Privacy policy
Plain language first. The short version: we use your information to run your case, we do not sell it, and you can take it with you or delete it at any time.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email and password (stored hashed).
- Your case: what you enter about your divorce, including dates, finances, children and documents you upload.
- Conversations: questions you ask Counsel and its answers.
- Payments: handled by our payment processor. We do not store card numbers.
- Usage: basic technical information such as sign-in times and pages used, to keep the service working and secure.
How we use it
- To run your case file, roadmap, documents and calculations.
- To answer your questions with Counsel. When an outside AI provider writes an answer, we send only what that answer needs.
- To connect you with a professional when you request one and choose to share your case.
- To bill you, support you and keep the service secure.
What we never do
- Sell your personal information.
- Use your case for advertising.
- Share your case with a professional without your consent.
Who we share with
Service providers who host, process payments, send email or provide AI processing for us, under contracts that limit their use of your data; professionals you choose to share your case with; and authorities where the law requires it.
Your rights and choices
You can see and edit your information in the app, download everything we hold in one file, turn off case sharing, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct or delete your data. Contact us to use them.
Security
We use encryption in transit, private storage for uploaded files, access controls and logging. No system is perfectly secure, so we also give you tools to protect your account, such as strong passwords and signing out of shared devices.
Retention
We keep your case while your account is open. When you delete your account, your case, documents, files and conversations are deleted, except for limited records we must keep for legal, tax or security reasons.
Children
KindSplit is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children except as details a parent enters about their own children for their case.
